DON IMUS, 'IMUS Within The MORNING': "The Christmas Sweater" the storyline originates from where? What's the story?

GLENN BECK: It comes down from — it is a fictionalized story of my childhood, my last Christmas with my mother. After which...

IMUS: Well, let me know about this, could it be sad? Well, I am serious.

BECK: Could it be sad?

IMUS: Yes.

BECK: Well, yes.

IMUS: Well, let me know about this.

BECK: My mother — I discovered the this past year of my mother's existence — I type of determined that they was an alcoholic and hooked on drugs. It had not been running smoothly and she or he made the decision to consider her very own existence.

And That I recall the last Christmas. I was poor also it was certainly one of individuals Christmases in which you don't fully realize — when you are a child, you do not fully realize you are poor. And thus there is just one present underneath the tree that year for me personally also it would be a sweater and that i hated it.

I am talking about, what kid uses a sweater? And did not address it well, it had not been the very best response at Christmas but still did not have it also it was immediately after Christmas, I simply — it had been rolled away inside a ball also it was on the ground.

And my mother arrived and she or he was speaking in my experience about something and she or he looked lower in the sweater and she or he stated, "Would be that the sweater I gave you for Christmas?"

And That I stated yes and she or he selected up and she or he stated, "Do not treat that this way,Inch and that i recognized at that time just how much my mother tried and just how hard it had been on her which she understood it had been a crappy present which i wouldn't want however it was everything she can afford.

After which soon after that, she died which was type of the level within my existence. Which was the very first type of real rocky area that type of screwed me up for several years.

After which I began to repeat my mother's existence and...

IMUS: Consuming?

BECK: Consuming and — I am talking about, I had been right — suicide, everything. It had been all visiting me. And my ex-wife really backed me up right into a garage and stated together with her finger and she or he stated, "You will not repeat your mother's existence and do in order to your kids what she did for you.Inch

We've got the divorce because she was always backing me into a corner of garages.

And That I sobered up, and also the last some of it is dependant on an aspiration which i had after i was sobering up. And That I recognized how effort was which i needed to do also it involved facing your storm and merely dealing with.

Don't be concerned concerning the storm. You have just to walk through it and it is warm on the other hand, but when you are likely to stand here and become scared of the clouds for the reason that storm walking through, well, you are likely to be within this desolate place forever.

IMUS: Well, it is a country song, if you are dealing with hell, just continue moving. Which means you know...

BECK: I'm not sure that country song, but...

IMUS: I had been just attempting to...

(CROSSTALK)

BECK: I believe which was good story. Did not you believe would be a good story? Well told...

(CROSSTALK)

CHARLES MCCORD, 'IMUS Within The MORNING': This is an excellent story.

BECK: After which he throws it into...

MCCORD: I believe he's simply saying the philosophy is identical.

(CROSSTALK)

IMUS: Which means you found a method to turn this heart wrenching, stomach-wrenching story...

BECK: I am the main one?

IMUS: Right into a large pay day together with your "Sweater" book."

BECK: Are you currently seeing this? Case...

(LAUGHTER)

IMUS: When shall we be going to achieve the sweater for the children? I told my spouse, It's surprising this (EXPLETIVE Erased), well I did not mean (EXPLETIVE Erased)

(LAUGHTER)

IMUS: However I stated, It's surprising this (EXPLETIVE Erased) isn't selling knit tops. I am talking about, why not...

BECK: Can you, will it be OK if... I am talking about, because we're able to partnership inside a deal I possibly could give 10 % for your — anything you need to do. We're able to sell knit tops.
